The Many Faces of Love

Updated: Feb 24

Hey Tribe!

Can you believe it’s already Valentine’s? It feels like just last week I was counting down to the new year, tossing 12 grapes into my mouth—one for each bell toll (a Spanish tradition)—and then drinking, laughing, and dancing with friends until 9 a.m. the next day! (Let’s just say our first resolution of the year was to never drink that much again 🤦‍♀️).

But it’s amazing how quickly time moves and how each month brings its own special celebration—and February, of course, is all about love. Whether it’s romantic love, friendship, or just celebrating the things that make life meaningful, this is the season to honor it all.

That’s what this Valentine’s Collection is all about—the many shades of love. Each design carries a story, and I’d love to share the inspiration behind them with you.

“Inhabiting Two Bodies” – A Love That Transcends

This design was inspired by one of the most profound thinkers in history—Aristotle’s words:

“Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.”

I knew I wanted to include this quote, but when I asked our design partner what phrase to put on the design, he simply said, “Just write ‘Inhabiting Two Bodies.’”

And honestly? He was right. He gives great advice—after all, he’s also the genius behind our website development.

Instead of spelling out the full quote, he suggested to let the design do the storytelling—a single large head with two lovers inside, a visual representation of one soul shared between two bodies.

Some things don’t need explanation. Love is one of them.

“I Do Not Love You Except Because I Love You” – The Power of Pablo Neruda

Of course, given how much I love poetry, I had to include it in our designs. Choosing which poet to feature, though, was nearly impossible. I debated between Kahlil Gibran, John Keats, and Pablo Neruda, but since I’m currently living in Spain for my master’s degree, it felt fitting to pay tribute to the greatest Latin poet of our time.

Neruda has a way of capturing the raw, unfiltered essence of love—its passion, its contradictions, the way it defies reason. In his poem “Sonnet XVII,” he writes, “I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, between the shadow and the soul.” Love isn’t always loud or obvious; sometimes, it’s quiet, deep... existing in the unseen places of the heart.

In “Your Feet,” he expresses devotion in the smallest, simplest details: “I love your feet because they walked upon the earth and upon the wind and upon the waters, until they found me.” Love is about the journey—the steps we take to meet the right souls along the way.

.

After much debate, we finally chose the poem:

“I do not love you except because I love you.”

We know that Love is a paradox. It doesn’t always make sense. It’s both a choice and something uncontrollable. It exists within us, yet pulls us beyond ourselves. Neruda understood that, and this design is a tribute to the beautifully confusing nature of love.

“Every King Needs His Queen” – A Regal Romance

There’s something charming but also romantic about this phrase. Maybe it’s because it speaks to standing side by side, building something together.

Starting Ignis Kai has been an incredible journey, but I know firsthand how tough it is to launch something alone. That’s why I surrounded myself with amazing people who have supported me every step of the way—and I am beyond grateful for them.

This design is unapologetically romantic—a sweet (and yes, slightly cheesy :) ) reminder that love isn’t about ruling over someone but building a kingdom together.

“You’re the MVP of My Heart” – Fun

We couldn’t create a Valentine’s Collection without adding something fun and lighthearted! Whether you’re a basketball fan, a sports lover, or just someone who appreciates a good pun, this design is a playful reminder that sometimes, it’s just about having someone who hypes you up, who cheers for you, who’s truly your MVP.

Love—In Every Form, Every Moment

At the heart of it all, love is everywhere. Whether we have someone beside us or not, the world itself is filled with love.

We are never truly alone.

Love is in the friendships we cherish, the kindness we show, the passion we pour into our dreams. Even in solitude, we are surrounded by the Love that created the Universe itself.

As Rumi once said, “The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.”

Or as Mother Teresa put it, “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.”

So whatever you do, do it with love.

Happy Valentine’s, from all of us at Ignis Kai.
